We have been considering our mission statement and more specifically what it means to live the Gospel in different contexts. Our last discussion on this subject was about living the Gospel in the context of the workplace. This week we will take up where we left off and begin a discussion about living the Gospel in the context of our neighborhoods.
Pray: Before you begin your meditation this week, take a few minutes to ask the Lord to speak to you from His Word. Let Psalm 119:2-3 be part of your prayer. “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in His ways.”
Read: Luke 10:25-37. We are well acquainted with this passage; nevertheless, read it twice carefully.
Meditate: The parable Jesus told on this occasion is one that is not only very familiar but it is also very popular. We love to hear stories about loving others! Even the term “good Samaritan” has found its way into the language of our culture to describe anyone who goes out of his or her way to help others. But familiarity does not necessarily mean that we live by the lessons here. Listen carefully to the Lord and use a pen or pencil to engage your mind and heart.
See you Sunday!
