It has been reported that Yogi Berra only read newspaper sports pages, so he was clearly at a loss when he was introduced to novelist Earnest Hemmingway in a restaurant. Someone asked Berra if he had ever heard of the famous author. “I don’t think so,” Berra admitted. “What paper does he write for?”
For many people in the Church the twelve Minor Prophets are quite unfamiliar because they tend to read only the New Testament, and perhaps the Psalms. Hopefully you have become acquainted over the last several months with the first six of these remarkable saints and their messages so that you won’t be at a loss when someone asks a question about or makes a reference to one of the first six of the Minor Prophets!
This week’s meditation will give you an opportunity to review what you have seen and heard from the Lord as you have meditated on the messages of Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah.
Pray: The Lord gave these instructions to Joshua when he took up Moses’ mantel of leadership, and we would do well to heed them, too. Incorporate these words in your prayer. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Josh. 1:8).
Review: Read as much of Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah and Micah as time allows and if you have your notes on previous meditations, skim those as well.
Meditate: Our meditation this week will be a review of the first six Minor Prophets.
